Approve a sample using the actual material, machine and agreed metrics. Record speed, edge quality, wear, safety, dimensions and packaging instead of relying on a single short cut.
Define acceptance criteria before testing
A sample cannot be approved fairly if the buyer and supplier use different machines, materials or performance expectations. Agree what will be measured before the test.

- Machine model, power and speed
- Blade size and bore
- Dry or wet operation
- Feed method and operator
- Number or length of cuts
- Edge quality, speed, wear and any abnormal behavior
Compare like with like
If comparing several formulas, use the same material and machine. Avoid changing multiple variables at the same time. Mark each sample clearly so the results are not mixed.
Approve the commercial sample too
Performance approval should be followed by confirmation of UV artwork, label, inner packing, carton and quantity per carton. A technically successful blade can still create problems if the packaging information is incorrect.

How many cuts are enough?
The test length should reflect the product and buyer’s risk. A few short cuts may confirm basic sharpness but not lifetime or consistency.
Should the supplier test or the buyer test?
Both can be useful. Supplier testing controls the process, while buyer testing confirms performance on the actual machine and material.
Can the bulk order differ from the approved sample?
Production tolerances and batch controls should be agreed. Any intended specification change should be confirmed before mass production.
