Background
A private-label buyer supplied a reference blade and requested a product with comparable cutting behavior on its local material. The visual appearance of the sample was not enough to identify the internal bond or diamond system.
Challenge
The material and machine created a different result from generic factory testing. A single guessed formula would have created unnecessary risk.
Development approach
- Record the sample dimensions, structure and visible wear pattern.
- Confirm the machine, material and cutting method.
- Prepare four controlled sample directions with clear identification.
- Use the same test material and machine for comparison.
- Compare sharpness, edge condition, heat, wear and stability.
Commercial lesson
The objective was not to claim that one universal formula is best. The objective was to narrow the formula that matches the actual application and price level. Bulk production should only follow after the selected sample and packaging are confirmed.
