Reduce tile chipping by checking blade rim, thickness, machine run-out, flange fit, feed pressure, tile support and cooling. Test on the buyer’s actual tile before approving bulk production.
Chipping is not controlled by the blade alone
Tile hardness, glaze, internal stress, support, machine run-out and operator technique all affect the edge. A good blade can still chip when the tile vibrates or the spindle is not aligned.
Check the system
- Measure spindle and flange run-out.
- Confirm the bore fits without excessive clearance.
- Support the tile close to the cutting line.
- Use steady feed pressure without forcing.
- Confirm the blade direction and suitable speed.
- Use water if the machine and blade are approved for wet cutting.
Blade factors
Continuous and ultra-thin turbo rims are common directions for controlled tile edges. Core stability, segment thickness, diamond distribution and bond exposure still need to match the machine and tile.
Approval test
For OEM bulk orders, test more than one piece and record the tile type, machine, cutting length and edge condition. A short successful cut is not enough to confirm production consistency.

Why does only one side chip?
One-sided chipping can indicate blade deflection, flange alignment, feed direction, tile support or uneven segment exposure.
Can a thicker blade reduce chipping?
A more stable core can help in some machines, but a wider kerf can increase cutting resistance. Thickness must be balanced with machine stability.
Should I test several formulas?
When the material is difficult or the buyer has a reference sample, controlled comparison of several structures or formulations can be useful.
