A practical guide to selecting diamond segments by stone, blade diameter, segment size, bond, welding method, machine and target cutting performance.
Do not buy segments by height alone
A taller segment can contain more usable material, but cutting behavior also depends on diamond specification, bond, segment width, blade diameter, machine power and the stone being cut.
Start with the stone
Granite and marble vary widely in hardness and abrasiveness. Send the quarry or slab material, previous segment result and target performance where possible.
Match the segment to the blade
Segment length, thickness and count must match the core and welding arrangement. Reference dimensional families can help identify the product, but final geometry should be approved with the complete blade data.
